The Way Back to Eden

By John Maurice — Author of “If You Change Your Mind You Can Change Your Life”

The Root of All Evil Isn’t Money It’s When Lack Becomes Lord

Scarcity doesn’t just empty pockets it hijacks destiny.

They say money is the root of all evil. I see it differently now. Look back over your life: the biggest decisions you made, the dreams you delayed or deleted, the detours you never planned  they weren’t shaped by opportunity. They were shaped by money or more truthfully, by the lack of it.

When you have money, life feels open.
You choose from vision, not fear.
You live in freedom, not fight mode.

But when you’re broke, every “yes” becomes a negotiation with survival.

When Poverty Steals Choice Lack is not just a number in the bank; it is a thief of courage.

Imagine being young, brilliant, called, creative  and suddenly pregnant and scared. You long to say yes to life, but the questions scream louder than your purpose:

How will I afford this child?
How will I feed them?
How will I chase my dream now?
Where will we live?

Before you ever decide from purpose, you’re forced to decide from pressure. Not because you don’t love. Not because you’re selfish. But because the fear of lack makes the decision for you. That’s where the real evil lives.

Evil isn’t always a mask or a weapon. The deeper evil is when poverty steals our choices  when it robs our peace, our faith, our courage to say yes to a child, to our calling, to our highest self. When you’re living in lack, you’re not choosing purpose
you’re choosing survival. And survival will make you: Settle for jobs you hate Abandon dreams you were born to build

Lie to people you love, Steal time from your destiny

Break your own heart just to breathe a little easier Not because you’re evil  but because the pressure felt louder than your purpose.

Why Eden Was Perfect

Eden wasn’t perfect because it overflowed with fruit. It was perfect because it overflowed with abundance a life of more than enough. Consider the community that pooled resources to buy abandoned houses and turn them into homes for families. No miracle of cash fell from the sky. But collective abundance people choosing legacy over fear brought Eden back to a city block. That is the spirit you were created to live in. Together we rise and divided we fall. like it or not, We are all in this together.

Spanish Word of the Day: Abundancia
Palabra: Abundancia (ah-boon-DAHN-syah) → “abundance”

Sentence: Dios quiere que vivamos en abundancia.
→ God wants us to live in abundance.

Sound it out:
Dios → “dee-OHS”
quiere → “KYEH-reh”
que → “keh”
vivamos → “vee-VAH-mohs”
en → “en”
abundancia → “ah-boon-DAHN-syah”

Say it slowly: “Dee-OHS KYEH-reh keh vee-VAH-mohs en ah-boon-DAHN-syah.”

Bridge Exercise

Write down one place in your life where lack or the fear of lack has shaped your decisions. Declare aloud: Hoy escojo la abundancia sobre el temor.
(Today I choose abundance over fear.)

Take one bold, practical step toward abundance today big or small and let that single act train your mind to expect Eden.

Walking Through the Valley

Every valley you’ve faced wasn’t sent to break you it was sent to build you. Adversity is the classroom where strength is taught. It is the interview for your destiny asking one question: Will you keep moving when comfort has left the room?

Even when you walk “through the valley of the shadow of death,” you are not walking toward defeat.
You are proving what you’re made of.

Problems are not punishments. They are the gym where faith gains muscle. Two paths appear in every trial: One stops at fear, frustration, and surrender. The other keeps breathing, believing, and stepping until the other side appears.

Choose the path that keeps moving.
Keep walking.
Keep breathing.
Keep believing.
Your victory is not ahead of you it is already inside of you waiting to be revealed.

The Power of One Word

It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, one word can change everything. Malcolm Little was a hustler, a thief, a man society had already counted out. But in a prison cell, one word was spoken that transformed him into Malcolm X, A voice that reshaped a generation.

A young preacher from Montgomery, Alabama brilliant, yes, but unknown heard a word that called him to lead.
The world now remembers him as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man whose voice helped bend history toward justice.

Nelson Mandela was locked away for twenty-seven years. But a word took root in his soul a word strong enough to outlast bars and bitterness  and when he walked free, that same word turned him into the father of a nation.

Maybe the word waiting for you is not just for you.
Maybe it is meant to transform the world around you.

And there’s a boy from Long Branch, New Jersey locked away and forgotten in special ed, misunderstood, told he would never fit in. But he refused to give up. He kept believing in himself, And he was given a word to help change the trajectory of your life. You can take that word and sit on it. Or you can walk it out, through adversity and doubt, until you reach the other side of your dreams.

It is always your choice.
You are your only limitation.
If you change your mind, you truly can change your life.
