Dr. John Maurice, M.C., C.T.C., M.M.C.

There is a moment and if you’ve ever been close to your breakthrough, you know exactly the one I’m talking about where everything is lined up. The door is open. The opportunity is real. The path is clear.
And you don’t move.
Not because you can’t. Not because you aren’t ready. But because somewhere deep inside, a quiet voice whispers a question that stops you cold
Do I actually belong there?
That question is not weakness. That question is not failure. That question is the evidence that you are standing at the threshold of something real. Because ordinary doors don’t ask that of you. Only the ones that matter do.
But here’s what I need you to understand today. You can do everything right, you can get still, you can get clear, you can get the vision and still not move. Because the final barrier is never the door. The final barrier is what you believe about yourself in front of it.
You cannot go where you don’t believe you belong.

My Story – Where the Lie Started
I want to tell you something personal about my own life. As a child, when my parents split up, I moved around a lot while my parents reestablished their lives. I transitioned with different family members in different school districts.
I attended nine schools in twelve years. By the time I was placed in remedial classes, not because I could not learn, but because it was easier for them, that is when I received my greatest gift. I call it “My Cognitive Awakening”. Because now I was not programmed. And The very first thing that God tells us about himself in the Bible started to operate in me.
Do you know what that is?
It is your Imagination.
The very first thing that God tells us about himself in the Bible was not that He is All Powerful. Not that He is Almighty. Not even that He is Love. God tells us that He is Creative. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” So if you want to walk in your God likeness, you need to operate in your Creative Imagination. “Think and Grow Rich.”
And so now God had space and time to develop all of the things that He wanted to come out of me, to reach you at exactly the right time.
What the devil meant for evil, God turned around and used for good. Every detour, every dismissal, every door that was closed in your face was not the end of your story. It was the setup for it. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done and discovered, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20

At that time, I had already learned, not from a textbook, but from experience, that some spaces weren’t for me. Some rooms were for the other kids. The smarter ones. The ones who didn’t struggle. The ones who had never been told, by the very system designed to help them, that you pay for , that they needed a different track.
That message didn’t just live in a school building. It moved with me. Sometimes it settled into the way I walked into rooms. But it never showed up in who I allowed myself to dream about becoming.
And here’s the thing about a lie that gets planted early enough, it doesn’t feel like a lie. It feels like one side of yourself. And you have to choose which side you are going to believe.
It took me years and years of work to let go of that kind of thinking. Then after years of surgeries, wondering if I was still good enough. Then it took years of choosing to get back up and to understand that what I believed about myself and where I belonged had nothing to do with where I was actually called to go.
The remedial classroom was not my ceiling. It was a room I was passing through.
And the very moment I truly believed that, not just intellectually, but truly in my bones, BOOM! Everything changed. “If You Change Your Mind You Can Change Your Life. By Dr John Maurice”

The Neuroscience of Belonging
Your brain has a function that most people never learn about in school, and it is running inside you right now, shaping every decision you make about what is possible for your life.
It’s called the Reticular Activating System and its job is to filter reality based on what you believe to be true about yourself.
Here is what that means in plain language: your brain is not showing you all of reality. It is showing you the version of reality that confirms what you already believe.
If you believe you don’t belong in the room, your brain will find every piece of evidence to support that. The look someone gave you. The thing you said that came out wrong. The résumé you think isn’t strong enough. The voice inside that says who are you to be here?
But if you shift the belief if you decide, with intention, that you were built for this, that you were prepared for this, that your story qualifies you rather than disqualifies you that same brain begins scanning for confirmation of that instead.
This is not wishful thinking. This is neuroscience.
Your Prefrontal Cortex the part of your brain responsible for identity, decision-making, and future projection is constantly asking. Who am I? And what do people like me do?
When you change the answer to that question, you change the output.
You cannot go where you don’t believe you belong. But the reverse is equally true
When you believe you belong, your brain will find a way to get you there

Spanish Word of the Day
Pertenecer
(pehr-teh-neh-SEHR)
Meaning: To belong
Sentence in Spanish
Siempre he pertenecido a este momento.
Pronunciation:
Syehm-preh eh pehr-teh-neh-SEE-doh ah EHS-teh moh-MEHN-toh
English Translation:
I have always belonged to this moment.

Bridge Exercise
Find a quiet place your car, your kitchen table, a corner of the morning before the world wakes up.
Take out a piece of paper, or open a blank note on your phone.
At the top, write this sentence:
“What’s The room I’ve been afraid to walk into is ___________.”
Fill it in honestly. Don’t edit yourself. Don’t soften it. Write the real one the opportunity, the relationship, the version of your life that you’ve been circling but not entering.
Now underneath it, write this
“The reason I haven’t walked in is that I don’t believe ___________.”
Again be honest. This is between you and the page.
Now read what you wrote. Because what you just named is not a fact about your future. It is a belief about your past. And beliefs can be changed.
Close your eyes. Take three slow breaths. Then say out loud not in your head, but out loud
“I was built for this. My story qualifies me. I belong in the room.”
Say it until it stops feeling strange. Because the strangeness is just your brain catching up to your truth.

Identity Affirmation
I do not need permission to belong. I was not placed here by accident. Every scar, every detour, every hard season was preparation not punishment. I walk into the room because I was made for the room. My presence is not a mistake. My presence is the message. That’s why “Delay Does Not Mean Denial”

John Maurice Seal, To My Readers
Every week, I sit down to write to My readers. People who have done the hard work of getting honest with themselves, and who are now standing at the edge of the life they’ve been preparing for. If that’s you, I’m talking to you today.
You’ve done enough getting ready. The question now is now whether you believe you deserve what you’ve been getting ready for.
The answer is… You do. So Walk into your season. Its your time.
Love Always,
Dr. John Maurice, M.C., C.T.C., M.M.C.

This Week I have A Question for My Readers
What is one room one opportunity, one relationship, one version of your life that you’ve been standing outside of? And what would change if you truly believed you belonged there?
Drop it in the comments. I want to witness it with you.

Decoding With Dr. John Maurice
What you just felt while reading this blog was not inspiration.
It was your Reticular Activating System being recalibrated.
Every time you read a story that mirrors your own struggle and then sees its way through your brain begins to update its internal map of what is possible for you. Not theoretically. Neurologically.
The Spanish word pertenecer to belong is not a soft, emotional concept. It is a cognitive command. The moment you decide you belong somewhere, your Prefrontal Cortex begins organizing your attention, your choices, and your behavior around that new identity. It shifts from asking “Do I belong here?” to asking “What does someone who belongs here do next?”
That is the shift.
The Bridge Exercise you completed was not journaling. It was a targeted intervention on your Amygdala the part of your brain that flags unfamiliar environments as threats. By naming the room you’ve been afraid to enter, and then speaking your belonging out loud, you interrupted the threat response and introduced a new signal this is safe, and I was made for this.
Your brain believed the old story because you repeated it long enough.
Now you’re beginning to repeat a new one.
That is not positive thinking. That is how identity actually changes.
So Never Stop, Keep going. If you are A Witness please let me know.
Look this is your time. If you have a dream, vision, or believe God is telling you something, Go after it and don’t allow anyone tell you other wise. If you can see it you can do it if you are willing to put in the work to have it or it will remain just a dream.
I believe in you. And now that you are beginning to believe more in yourself, I know I will see you on the other side of your desired reality in no time.
Love Always,
Dr. John Maurice , M.C., C.T.C., M.M.C.
