Be Still and Know Before You Go

By Dr. John Maurice M.C., C.T.C., M.M.C.

Being Ready Is Not Enough

I want to tell you something that nobody in the self-help space is going to say to you this week.

Being ready is not enough.

I know. I know that sounds like the opposite of everything you have been hearing, Push, Leap, Jump before you are ready. Done is better than perfect. Go go go.

Listen I believe in moving. I believe in the Warrior of Obedience. I believe that your Anterior Midcingulate Cortex the part of your brain that gets stronger every time you do the hard thing is built for action.

But there is a version of action that is not obedience to your vision. It is obedience to your fear.

And those two things can look identical from the outside.

When Opportunity Feels Like Urgency

This week I sat across from an opportunity. A shiny one. A convincing one. A one-time-offer-that-won’t-last-until-tomorrow one.

And every anxious version of me the one that has been waiting, building, preparing, dreaming wanted to say yes before they finished the sentence.

Because anxious people say yes to the wrong things for the right reasons.

They say yes because they are tired of waiting.

They say yes because the delay has felt so long that any movement feels like progress.

They say yes because the Fear Filter the Amygdala has been in that room the whole time whispering if you don’t take this, nothing will come. This is your moment. Don’t blow it.

What Sabiduría (Wisdom) Really Looks Like

But here is what Sabiduría / wisdom looks like from the inside.

It looks like stillness when everything around you is screaming move.

It looks like a closed mouth when a salesman is waiting for a yes.

It looks like knowing the difference between a door God opened and a door someone is holding open with a deadline attached.

Be Still and Know

The scripture says, be still and know.

Not be still and feel good about being still.

Not be still and enjoy the pause.

Be still and KNOW.

That word know in the original Hebrew is yada. It means to know through experience. Through intimacy. Through relationship with the truth of a thing.

Stillness Is Not Passivity

In other words stillness is not passivity. Stillness is the environment where your Prefrontal Cortex your Architect of Reality can operate without the noise of urgency distorting the signal.

What Happens in Your Brain Under Pressure

Because here is what I need you to understand about your brain.

When the Amygdala is activated when you are in a state of pressure, urgency, fear, or artificial scarcity arrive your Prefrontal Cortex goes quiet.

“The Architect cannot draw a clear blueprint in a room full of smoke.”

The Truth About High-Pressure Environments

And most high-pressure sales environments are designed to fill the room with smoke.

Not always maliciously. Sometimes just systemically. That is the model. Create urgency. Close fast. Move to the next one.

But you are not the next one.

You Are Building Something Real

You are building something real. The real things, lasting things. Things that will still be standing five years from now, those things are built from wisdom.

Not from the pressure of a countdown clock.

A Truth That Has Always Existed

There is an old truth that has been said in many ways across many generations

A foolish person and their money are soon parted.

That is not just financial wisdom. That is identity wisdom.

Funding the Wrong Version of Yourself

Every time you make a decision from the wrong version of yourself the version that is anxious, that is tired of waiting, that just wants something to happen now that is not progress. That is what is keeping you stuck.

You need to understand something. Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that your life has an appointed season. Everything works in God’s timing. And Exodus 12:35 reminds us that God will restore everything that was lost. So trust God. Trust the process. And make sure that what you are saying, believing, and doing is aligned with what God says about you.

You have to stop funding the old version of you and start walking into the version of what God has for you and you will see your life change right before your eyes. As I said in my book If You Change Your Mind, You Can Change Your Life by Dr John Maurice”.

So stop trying to fund the old version of you. It does not need more funding.

It needs replacing.

The Language of the New Version.

To win in life you have to understand one thing Wisdom is the first language of the new version of yourself.

Wisdom says – I am ready. AND I will wait for the right door.

Wisdom says – I know my value. AND I will not discount it to fit someone else’s timeline.

Wisdom says – I trust the process. AND I trust the God who authored it.

So take inventory of your life and ask yourself – have I been using Wisdom? Once you have that answer you now know the next step you should take.

Be Still Before You Go

Be still and know before you go. Time and a clear head makes the best decision to rush is to bring regret.

The wait is not forever. And while you wait do not just sit. Do not wait passively. Do not wait in fear dressed up as patience.

Wait in the holy, grounded, Architect-led stillness that knows the right thing will not expire before you get there.

The Right Thing Is Waiting

The right thing is waiting for the right version of you to arrive at the right door.

And that version of you the one operating in Sabiduría (Wisdom) is exactly who you are becoming.

Right now. This week. In every decision you make with wisdom instead of urgency.

“I see it. And soon so will you.”

Spanish Word of the Day

Sabiduría

Sah-bee-doo-REE-ah → “Wisdom”

La sabiduría no grita — susurra en el silencio.

“Wisdom does not shout — it whispers in the silence.”

Phonetically: Lah sah-bee-doo-REE-ah noh GREE-tah — soo-SOO-rrah en el see-LEN-syoh.

Bridge Exercise

  1. Identify the pressure. Think about a decision you are currently facing. Write down honestly is this urgency coming from God or from someone else’s timeline? There is a difference between a divine open door and a deadline someone attached to it.
  2. Quiet the room. Before you respond to any high-pressure opportunity this week, give yourself 24 hours of stillness first. No answering. No deciding. Just being still long enough for your Prefrontal Cortex your Architect to come back online.
  3. Ask the right question. The wrong question is will I regret not taking this? The right question is does this align with who I am becoming? One question comes from fear. The other comes from wisdom. Know which one is driving you.
  4. Check your version. Write down which version of you is making this decision the anxious version that is tired of waiting, or the wise version that knows the right thing will not expire. Then decide from the version you are building, not the version you are leaving behind.

Identity Affirmation

I am not moved by urgency I am moved by wisdom.
I do not make decisions from the version of me that is afraid.
I make decisions from the version of me that God is building.
Stillness is not weakness it is the environment where my Architect works.
The right door will not close before I get there.
I will be still. I will know. And then I will go.

You Are Changing Your Life

As always I want you to know that I believe in you. And now that you are believing more in yourself. Now that you are doing the hard things, making the wise moves, holding the standard when the pressure is highest, you are creating real change. You are moving your life in a new trajectory. And every desire, every dream, every vision your Architect has been holding, I know it is coming.

I will see you on the other side of your desired reality. In no time.

Dr. John Maurice Seal

Before you go, I want to ask you something and I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

I write these words every week because I believe someone needs them. I follow my heart, I share what I am learning and living, and I trust that it lands where it is supposed to land. And it does I can see that you are here, that you are reading, that you are sharing this with people you love.

But I want more than that. I want to know you.

I want this to be more than a blog you read alone. I want it to be a conversation a place where we grow together, where your story matters as much as mine, and where none of us has to figure out this next chapter in silence.

So here is my question for you this week:

Where are you right now? Is there a decision in front of you that someone else’s urgency is trying to make for you? What does your Architect know that your fear is trying to drown out?

You do not have to have it all figured out. You do not have to sound polished. Just be real with me. Drop it in the comments, reply to this post, reach out however feels right to you but please, let me hear from you. I have been talking to you for a while now, and I genuinely want to talk with you.

If this message sparked something inside you and you are ready to go deeper, I invite you to continue the journey with my books. After the Message

Decoding With Dr. John Maurice

This is the section where I tell you what I am actually saying in this blog. Where I break down everything so that you can have a full understanding and take away the correct information for change and not just have another feel good moment that does not create the transformation you need. So Let’s get into it.

What happened to me this week and what happens to most people in high pressure moments is not what it looks like on the surface. I have learned to stop calling these moments sales situations. Because the moment you call it that, you miss what is actually happening inside you. What happened this week was neurological. And once you understand that everything changes.

When the Amygdala the Fear Filter detects artificial scarcity, it reads it the same way it reads a genuine threat. The body floods with cortisol. The Prefrontal Cortex the Architect of Reality loses its ability to evaluate clearly. Decision-making shifts from the part of the brain designed for long-term vision to the part designed for immediate survival.

This is why high-pressure environments are so effective. They are not selling you a product. They are hijacking your neurology.

The Quantum Consciousness framework reminds us that the reality you collapse into existence is always shaped by the state you are in when you make the decision. A decision made from anxiety creates an anxious future. A decision made from wisdom creates a wise one. The observer you determines what becomes real. Which means the most powerful thing you can do in a high-pressure moment is refuse to observe from a state of fear.

Be still. Let the Architect come back online. Then decide.

Scripture has always known what neuroscience is only now confirming stillness is not the absence of action. It is the preparation for the right one. That’s why the bible say Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) that is not a passive instruction. It is a neurological strategy. It is God telling you quiet the amygdala, activate the Architect, and then move from wisdom instead of wound.

The right door will not expire before you get there. But the wrong decision, made in the wrong state, from the wrong version of the life you are creating that has a cost that compounds.

Choose stillness first. Then go and if the person you are dealing with try to make you feel bad, that’s how you know that situation is not from God or best for you.

Until next time,
Love Always,
Dr. John Maurice, M.C., C.T.C., M.M.C.
